ABOUT DTS MUSIC DISCS

DTS, the Symbol, DTS-HD, and DTS or DTS-HD and the Symbol together are registered trademarks of DTS, Inc., and all other DTS logos are trademarks of DTS, Inc.

So many people now have Blu-ray players or DVD players connected to receivers or TVs with Dolby Digital and DTS decoders and multiple speakers that there is increasing demand for surround sound recordings.

As of January, 2011, all recordings made by APAD in large venues are multi-channel considering the possibility that clients may wish to publish a surround sound recording.

It is now possible to manufacture a surround sound Compact Disc.

DTS Music Disc (5.1 surround audio), provides much higher quality audio than Dolby Digital, and is sanctioned for Compact Discs (CD) but must be played in a player with digital output (CD, DVD or Blu-ray). To hear surround sound the output must go to a receiver with DTS decoder (look for the DTS logo on the receiver) via optical or coaxial or HDMI cables. Surround sound is not available using the player's standard audio outputs. There is no video of any kind, still pictures or otherwise. Played through a player without digital output to a decoder you hear only white noise which is a rushing sound like you hear when your FM radio is tuned off-frequency. But through a decoder you hear pristine audio.

Recordings made in concert halls and other large venues are, in a word, amazingly clear and inclusive demonstrating great depth of sound.

There is no increase in fee for recording - $100 for a typical concert or $50/hr for recording sessions. And there is no increase in the cost of the CDs themselves. The editing and mastering fee increases from $75 to $175 because of the increased time required to handle the complexity of 6 channels instead of 2. If you dont want surround sound the editing/mastering fee remains $75.

Orders can be mixed. For example: You might order 200 standard CDs and 50 DTS 5.1 CDs. They will all receive the 250 CD pricing.

We fill 99% of our CD orders with write-once CDs (CD-R) which we manufacture, on demand, here. "On demand" means that you can order the exact quantity you want and receive them much more quickly. If you discover later that you don't have enough CDs you can easily order more. There are no minimum quantities. If you need 4 more, 10 more, 25 more, we again make exactly what you need.

Allow a week for the manufacturing process. Included are CD-Text, a Jewel case and full-color case liner and shrink-wrapping.  (CD-Text shows the name and composer of each track on players equipped with a panel display and readout.)

Prices per CD may be found in the table below. Quantities of 1 - 299 are duplicated by us using CDR and are noted in black print. Higher quantities (in blue) are standard CDs replicated by others. Delivery times are 3 to 4 weeks and you must be willing to accept 10% over or under the quantity you order. If 3 - 4 weeks is too long we can fill your order using CDR in a week or less.
